2010 Winter Season

Team nominations are now open for the 2010 table tennis season. Clubs are due to send in their nominations by March 19th so if your club hasn't contacted you already, make sure you get in touch and let them know you're available.

For Div 3/4 players, let you club know if you have a preference for Wed or Thur nights as the HTTA will review this before the start of the season.

Mark you diary and find your bat - Div 1/2 starts 20th Apr and Div 3/4 on the 21st or 22nd.

The junior competition will be run at Hahndorf primary school again with a coaching period following by a competition. Stay tuned for starting dates or sign up for email updates here.

Daytime, weekday social competition

The HTTA is interested in running a daytime social competition on a weekday at one of our halls in Aldgate, Summertown, Mylor, Scott Creek, Coromandel Valley, Cherry Gardens or Hahndorf. We need expressions of interest from people who'd like to play - with enough interest, we can get this competition underway during 2009. Our players enjoy the social atmosphere of HTTA competitions, and we cherish and retain the very civilized practice of ending play with a cup of tea, supper and a chat. The competition can be arranged to cater for many levels of ability, from competitive to 'hit and giggle'. Please register your interest, and feel free to provide contact details so we can let you know when play starts:

HTTA Player Survey Results

Many thanks to 51 players who participated in the survey.

Over one third (37%) of players are 35 or under, and the majority (65%) are under 50, indicating we're a relatively young bunch. Division 1/2 players have been playing longer (15.0 years) than division 3 players (8.3 years). One third of our players are involved in other competitions, such as Southern Table Tennis and the Australian Retired Persons Association. 20 players indicated an interest in a spring competition with a different format (and this is pretty much the number who've turned up!). Players most strongly identify the 'social aspect' as most important, be it in the HTTA competition, other table tennis competitions, or other sports they play. Supper, relaxed environment, good competition and friendliness also rated highly as features of the HTTA. The improvements most sought by players were more teams and players, and upgraded lighting/tables in some halls. Our players are involved in a diverse range of other sports, but are most likely to be involved in tennis, cricket or golf. The provocative question 'should the HTTA have it's very own, permanently set up venue' drew mixed results. Many thought it was a great idea but would be difficult to execute. Just as many were very content with the home and away format and saw no need to change.

The HTTA committee will use these results to confirm it's forward planning.
